Apparently May 1st is going to be "A Day Without Immigrants." Those of us that are in the transportation industry have seen this coming for a while, but now it's a full-on problem and it doesn't include just truck drivers but apparently every immigrant in America.

Uh huh.

Now I know some don't care for this topic, which is absolutely fine by me. There are certain things that don't light my shorts on fire and there are some that do. This is one of those topics that really gets nails-on-chalkboard for me and it's not easing up.

I, as well as the rest of my office, was the recipient of a newsletter today for the "movement" which gave details on what it stood for and blah blah blah. Needless to say, I was pissed off at 10:00 in the morning, which is a new record for me lately*.
*excludes the obvious waking up every day, still being fat, and still having to work

The newsletter stated the "demands" of the immigrants as clearly as a jumbled up pile of "fuck" can. They want amnesty, the right to form labor unions, and a 25% increase in salary. Now, I'll let that sink in for a moment...

....

....

....

A 25% PERCENT INCREASE IN SALARY??? Are you fucking kidding me? Just the term "salary" would imply that you pay taxes on the money you make, which, might I remind everyone, IMMIGRANTS DON'T DO. If you want an increase in salary, then become a fucking citizen or shut the fuck up.

Look, I believe you have the right to be treated as a human being wherever you go, but seriously, why in the fuck aren't we arresting ILLEGAL immigrants when they protest? Does anyone else see a problem with ILLEGAL immigrants not getting arrested when they challenge the kickback loving assclowns that grandstand every day and call it "making a difference?"

Immigrants, PLEASE don't go to work May 1st so everyone can see that this country can run without you. If you want to stay, PLEASE pay taxes and stop draining medicare and citizen funded schools. I don't care if you can't speak english, just PLEASE pitch in a little to help with the rent.

Now don't get me wrong, I truly believe the low cost of labor has been a very big contributing factor in the reason why our economy continues to grow. Hell, just the housing market alone is dominated with immigrants. If you don't believe me, ask the Home Depot, which is the official sponsor of "1 for $20 or 3 for $50" guest workers.

Of course, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm close minded. Maybe I'm a legal, tax paying, IRS hating, college educated, CITIZEN that just doesn't get it. Hell, maybe the country will go to hell in a handbasket on May 1st. Just look below and see what happens when immigrants stop working on the internet.

Immigrants

Obviously not a pretty site.

Hasta niños del próximo tiempo.

I always love when Anonymous comments on my blog. He/she/it is SO educated and NOTHING ever slips past Anonymous.

Here is the nugget of wisdom I received from earlier from our favorite commenter...

"perhaps this is a good time for someone to point out that no single individual can represent wholly an entire population with whom that individual shares a single characteristic. There are crazy Mulsims, crazy Christians, crazy atheists, crazy liberals, crazy conservatives, crazy men, crazy women, crazy whites, crazy blacks, and so on. To judge a group by one person is not always accurate, to make statements based on that judgement merely makes the claimant seem uneducated and closed-minded."

Here are some news flashes...

1) I'm educated.

2) I'm funny.

3) I singled out terrorists and Tech students. It's not my fault damn near all of the terrorists are Muslim, that's called "fact."

4) I don't give a fuck what you think.

Time and time again one person can't seem to take a joke. Yeah so the Tech Terrorist piece was a little over the top. It was meant to be that way. Why? Because I hate Georgia Tech and I'm no fan of terrorists. Hell it's a match made in heaven for any Dawg fan that happens to be slightly conservative.

If you have a problem with what I say, then by all means voice your opinion. It irks me when you do it anonymously, because anonymous is anyone that wants to be that way and so therefore dialogue between two people is inefficient and unproductive (wow, that is one educated sounding sentence!).

If you don't like what I wrote...tough shit. It was funny and not harmful to say the least. I never said all Muslims were shit, but I will claim Tech fans to be that way (and I even have some in my family).

If I offended you, I kind of apologize. I never mean to hurt feelings, but if yours gets hurt in the process of a blog that was a farce more than a statement, then who really has the problem? Me, for being slightly offensive, or you for being very defensive?

Praise be to Allah.

Until next time kids.

Be safe.

P.S. -- To prove my fairness to offending all races and religions, note this post from the Pope Watch of April 2005.

There is a really good blog in how I view that show, but I can't get it completely out at this point. I'm not feeling creative enough.

In kind-of-but-not-really related news, I THINK I met a girl this weekend. Not like "I met a girl but I think she could've been a man," (I'm not Eddie Murphy) but more like I met a girl and it was nice, but I'm just kind of trying to figure out where she could fit.

Other than that, I really didn't sleep enough this weekend.

Until next time kids.

Be safe.

I usually don't blog twice in one day, much less in a 4 hour span, but this bit of breaking news I couldn't resist passing along...

*From the desk of Kit Kitchens

ATLANTA, GA -- A Georgia Tech student and another Atlanta area man have been accused of terrorist activities according to an unsealed indictment. The 21-year old was taken into custody last month and has now officially been charged with being a conspirator to terrorist activities.

The Federal Government has alleged there are videos as well as data documents that strongly suggest the 21-year old, named Syed Ahmed, was engaged with bringing this country to a screeching halt through another terrorist attack.

All efforts to reach the Tech student have failed until his attorney was contacted by the Notorious K.I.T., who got the real story in the most exclusive news dump ever to hit The Dawg-gone Blog.

Kit: So, I guess let's start with the obvious. Why America?

Dipshit: Well, it's not really America was as much as it was the University of Georgia.

K: I'm sorry?

Moron: Yes, UGA is one of the most hated institutions in the whole country. After this year's crushing loss, I couldn't take it anymore. I mean, we never win anything. No-fucking-thing. I was hoping basketball would be different and give us a break, but that was a no-go. It also happened to be the last straw. So I said, "I can't live like this. I've got to do something." And so I did something. You know that guy that burnt the building down after they took his stapler?

K: Milton?

( Photo: This man breeds terrorism.)

Retard: Yeah, that cat. All they did was take a stapler. It was a red, swingline stapler and he loved it. Well, I love not sucking in everything. And when my school forces me to suck...

K: Suck...as in what your "daddy's" gonna make you do in jail?

Fool: Don't interrupt me. When I'm forced to suck, I have to do something about it. So I decided to just dump the whole thing. There can't be UGA beating us in everything if there's no UGA...and better yet, no America. It was a great idea.

K: Until the Feds went all Jack Bauer on you and threw your dumbass in jail right?

(Photo: Bauer calls ambulances in advance.)

Idiot: Yeah, that was about the time it wasn't that great of an idea anymore. But I still love Allah and he still loves me. I may not get all 42 or 72 or however many "2s" of those virgins when I die, but I might could swing a couple just for trying. I mean nevermind the fact I lived in a free country where people didn't smell like me all the time. I want to go back to the times when bathing and seeing women's faces wasn't mandatory. Hygiene? What the fuck is that?

K: Obviously you don't know. But I'm not here to judge. So why did you go from a mechanical engineering major to a terrorist?

Asshat: Pussy.

K: Didn't work huh?

Butt Pirate: Not really. But hey, I went to Tech. It's not like I was getting any to begin with. No wonder we can't get any real athletes to come here. I tell you what, though. Ya know what gets my rocket firing? Long division.

K: Not suprised. So we all know you're going to jail and probably for a very long time. We also know you're going to be doing a lot of "catching" and not so much "pitching." Any idea on how that rectal cavity is going to hold up?

Brokeback: Well you don't aid terrorists without thinking you're going to get arrested and be someone's He-bitch for the rest of your life, so it's crossed my mind once or twice. I think I'm just going to travel to my happy place.

K: Like in Happy Gilmore?

Weirdo: Yeah, but with more midgets, long division, and women with cloths on their faces.

K: Gotcha. Any final thing you'd like to say to anyone who knew you and is actually suprised you decided to venture in this direction?

Loser: Not really. I mean I'm a 21-year old Georgia Tech student. That automatically makes me foreign, sexually frustrated, inept to rational thought, and excludes me from being grateful for anything this country has offered me by not kicking my ass years ago. If you didn't see it coming, then you must be a Florida Grad.

Until next time kids.

Be safe.

True story:

Last night at trivia we NAILED (and by "we" I mean Ln) the final question only to have me pop up and say "I think we should risk 12 points."

The logic behind this was since we had either led or been right outside of the lead for most of the game, it would be very tough for those trying to catch us to all risk 20 points and all get it right in order to win.

And we lost by one fucking point.

That's the last time I apply "The Jeopardy Theory" to trivia.

Screw you Trebek.
Until next time kids.

Be safe.

283
To begin, this post is in honor of Gunner, who I'd like to give a hearty congrats for 1) Doing so well in a showcase of what he has done well for so long and 2) For having a post-game celebration which inspired this post through a chain reaction from another post.

This guy has a post in which he references his trip, albeit short, to Athens a day or so ago. Within said post, he mentions a bar that I can single handedly point to as signifying my favorite time in Athens, and probably one of the best (if not the best) periods of time in my life.

A Google Search of "283 Bar" yields some interesting results, but doesn't accurately describe the vibe that is contained within those walls. I first started frequenting 283 my first senior year in college when I had recently moved from River Mill Apartments to a much-farther-away-from-downtown place called Deer Park, which happened to be located a long ways down Lexington (and scarily enough, about a mile and a half from the ACC Police Department). I was invited down one evening by someone who at the time was more of a new friend found through a mutual hatred than a really close personal friend. I went, I hung out, I drank, and I started finding a group of friends that I never thought I would be lucky enough to find. I have been truly blessed by being fortunate in getting to know people I truly respect and admire.

The bar in itself is full of those that feel 283 is their own little slice of town in which the drinks do not trump the fellowship of others or the various styles that converge inside the quite weirdly decorated insides. Those that drank there did so because they could do it without reservations of others looking on and finding out. Think of it as a club that no one really talked about (not like Fight Club), but once you were invited in, you were more than welcome.

When I first went, I'll be honest, I was nervous as hell. I stayed sober most of that first night because I didn't want to get uninvited or be "that guy." What ended up happening slowly is that I got to know how to just chill. I know that sounds cheesy, cliche and stupid, but until then my idea of going downtown was getting ripped out of my mind. I discovered the art of conversation over drinks, which had been attempted before, but it was something that I sucked hardcore at. The things spoken of, ideas dreamed up, and advice given by some was perfect at times and at others had timing that was reminiscent of Colonel Mustard.

My favorite story to recall began one night just like any other when we were at 283. I think it was a Tuesday and I got the phone call around 21:00 saying everyone would be there shortly and I was expected to come. Well, never to be one to disappoint I said "OK" and happened to invite the girl that I had been crushing on hardcore at the time. She tagged along and met us there and the drinks began to flow. This guy decided at one point after at least number 6 that I should tell her the feelings I had for her. He, obviously being the kind of guy that loves the big moment "John Cusack" style (much like myself), thought it was a great idea, but decided to tell me to "go all in" while she was sitting right there. Timing, again, was pretty bad. I can remember being pissed, but the next day I took away a different perspective on the whole thing. It was at that point I realized I had become a pretty damn good friend of said "foot in mouther" and I knew this because I told him about the girl. He, being the good person that he is, just wanted me to do the obvious, and even though it didn't work (in fact it failed miserably), his intentions were of someone who actually gave a shit about my general happiness. It probably isn't that great of a story, but trust me, you should've seen the crash and burn. Goose would've been proud.

As I type this I realize that I'm not truly getting my point across about how much I loved that place and how good it made me feel to be a part of it all. I honestly don't think I have the vocabulary to say what I felt when I read the post about revisiting 283 and doing it all over again. It's an empty gratitude that I think most feel but have an awfully hard time explaining. I use that term because you know it'll never be like that again so it leaves you with a hollow feeling, but then you're thankful you had it in the first place. I don't know, maybe only those that have their Athens places and fads that they look fondly upon could probably understand it.

That being said, I hope this year (or next year or whenever) when the stars align and everyone converges back on the Classic City, the first round of drinks are on me. Trust me, it meant a lot to be a part of that and I owe it to those that were kind enough to include me on the activities.

Until next time kids.

Be safe.

So therefore the G-day wrap up is completely postponed until further notice. I will give you some initial impressions though...

1) Joe Cox has made me look like a fool. The bad news is he will not start a game at UGA. The good news is it's not because he sucks (because he doesn't), it's because we're that talented at QB. I don't think the guy made a bad showing at G-day. I honestly think he was trying too hard to impress the crowd and get some buzz going about him. He didn't manage the game, but instead tried to change the pace, attitude, and feel of it. He was trying to be too PROactive and forgot to be REactive to the things happening around him. Poor kid.

2) Matt Stafford is going to be the next great QB at UGA. I'm not saying that because of his OK showing at G-day. I'm saying that because of the things he did at G-day that many people don't take notice of, which include his quick release, ability to lead receivers, and the zip he puts on the ball. He's got the tools and once he refines them, he'll be the phenom. Until then, I really want to stop hearing about the kid being the truth and all that shit. Seriously, with all the hype that has surrounded him, he HAD to go deep on the first play. It was prearranged. Now, when he calls an audible, goes deep, and scores a TD on a pass where the DB DIDN'T blow the coverage, I'll give him his props. Someone is running stairs right now for blowing their assignment on Mikey Henderson.

3) Our Defense is stout. Now I know why I didn't want to write a piece on the defense until after signing day and spring. The D-line is solid with Charles Johnson and Quentin Moses leading the pack. The DBs are MUCH better than I figured they would be. Speaking of which, look for Asher Allen to start in Nickel formations and then move into a starter role by the end of the season. He's too big and fast to put Thomas Flowers over him. However, I can't say enough about Paul Oliver. He shut my boy Mo Mass down so badly Ike Turner felt bad. Richt sang his praises all over CSS too and for good reason. I like C.J. Byrd and I liked his physical play; especially the one where he leveled a TE. I think it was Tripp Chandler, but it might have been our new WR stud Kris Duhram, who is like Brian Finneran (sp?).

4) Our O-line has got a LOT of growing pains to go through, which is ANOTHER reason I like a more mobile QB like Cox back there. PWD was exactly right when he said I was too optimistic about the O-line. Hat tip to you boss.

5) I think we're a 9-3 team and one of those losses is to South Carolina. I almost got slapped today at work for saying that, but I mean it. I'm TERRIFIED of that game next year and it could literally make or break our season.

Until next time kids.

Be safe.

P.S. -- I hope you enjoy the music (if it's still playing). It's from a new band I recently discovered called Tally Hall. I like it. A lot. You?

I've been so caught up lately with my own personal drama, bullshit, blah blah blah that I haven't had much time to blog much about UGA football or sports in general. So, here are some ramblings as of late that I've strung together one one post.

1. The QB race at Georgia is far from over and if you ask me, no one is talking about the guy who I believe should start. That guy is Joe Cox. He has the resume, the skills, the repor with the WR corp and the knowledge to run the offense. I think the three things holding him back are 1) Leadership ability 2) Hype on other QBs and 3) The moxy to separate himself from the pack. By moxy, I mean the "it" factor that seems to have every sports writer on the UGA beat talking about Matt Stafford instead of Joe Cox. Cox was a huge grab for us in last year's recruiting class and I don't see Mark Richt wasting a red shirt on him. I know Stafford has the talent and will one day be the starter, but why waste his skills on growing pains? He's not going to be the next great QB the very first day. Let's let him get a year under his belt to become a student of Mark Richt instead of rushing the monkey. A wise man from Perry (not me) once said, "Listen slick. Don't rush the monkey and you'll see a better show." That applies here.

2. Fuck Florida and everything about them. I hate LSU, but I would've much rather seen them win the title. Hell, I would've rather seen ANYONE else win the title. Even Tennessee. By the way, I found that Noah kid's twin (see below)...

Separated at birth? You be the judge.

3. Anyone think the Braves will make it 15 in a row? It's too early to tell, but I was just curious. Me personally, I think they've got a shot, but not a GREAT one. Just a good one. Like every other year.

4. Who's pumped about the G-day game? Who's actually going?

5. I think ESPN is doing a reality show about Barry Bonds. I know some network is, but I can't remember which. The only question I can ask is what wide angle camera did they use to get that fucker's head all in one shot? Even without the steroids that bastard had one of the largest noggins (sp?) I've ever seen. Seriously, his ass has got to be sore from having that thing up there so long.

I think I'm done.

Until next time kids.

Be safe.

About 5 minutes ago I was reading Stacy G's blog about poker and I thought, "Maybe I should comment and ask her if we're playing at M00ndogs tomorrow night." Then, that idea got shat upon by a more technoligically sound idea that said, "No, I'll just text her tomorrow."

Text messages...the fucking Post It note of the 21st Century.

We as a society are so eager to stay in touch with anyone without saying a fucking word to each other. I swear one day I have a feeling we'll text entire conversations while we're all in the same room. It's a scary thought figuring my communication skills lack in real conversation so I'm really fucked when it comes to typing.

My blogs as of late have become more and more laced with profanity. Ya know why? It's because I don't give a shit.

HA!

I don't know what I don't give a shit about, but I just don't. All I want to do is win the lottery, sleep, and lose weight. It's a lofty goal, but damn it, I'll get there.

Also, speaking of goals, can we please put together a men's basketball team that will beat Florida next year? I don't care if we win more than two games, just please let them both be Florida. Hell, let's just go ahead and run the table. Let's beat Florida in football, basketball, and baseball. Since no other sports matter at UGA (gymnastics = not a sport, as defined by Kit...bring on the hatemail), let's please just beat them in those three. I will kiss someone (and we can vote on who this person could be) square on the ass for 5 seconds if it would get me the trifecta (spelling?) of Florida ass kicking.

At least the SEC was well represented. We needed that after being called a shit conference all year.

One last thing. Tonight's episode of 24 was a major dud until the last 10 minutes, which were good, but not great. I knew that assbag Logan was all kinds of Brokeback, though. That guy might as well wear a hat that says "Summer's Eve" across the top.

Until next time kids.

Be safe.
